In Madrid we met our bus driver, "Tiny" Javier, and headed to Segovia where our first stop was...
SEGOVIA'S 2000 YEAR OLD ROMAN AQUEDUCT
Built in the late 1st century, this aqueduct supplied water to the city of Segovia until the 20th century.
Viewing this amazing feat of architecture was most definitely a "WOW" moment.

The shadows from the aqueduct created beautiful lines and patterns.
We continued touring this ancient city by seeing...
THE MEDIEVAL ALCAZAR, SEGOVIA'S FORTIFIED PALACE
The Alcazar was originally built as an Arab fortress. In the 12th century Segovia returned
to Christian rule and the Alcazar became a royal palace. Over the years it has been used
as a state prison, an artillery college and a military academy.

The palace was a favorite
residence of Spain's monarchy. (In 1474 Isabella was crowned Queen of Spain at the Alcazar.) |
Hotel Los Linajes was one of the many wonderful places we stayed during our travels.

It's Time to Eat!
We dined on Segovia's famous roast suckling pig... so tender, it could be cut with a plate! (It was really quite delicious.) |
Each evening Javier posted
an itinerary for the following day's adventures. |
October 9th: Before boarding the bus for Madrid we took an early morning walk, enjoying spectacular views of the Alcazar. Thank you, Javier, for taking this awesome picture!
