tangier and asilah...
two unforgettable Moroccan cities!
We were met in Tangier by Aziz, our very knowledgeable and enthusiastic Moroccan local guide.
We took a bus tour through
Tangier's busy downtown area and its hillside neighborhoods. In the afternoon we arrived at the fabulous La Tangerina Guest House,
where we had a great time with our friends! |
October 16: In the morning we gathered for an incredible tour of the Medina (old town).
Every time we turned a corner there were remarkable sights to see.

As we walked the winding streets of the Medina
it felt as if we were transported back in time. |
The markets were filled with vibrant colors, lively voices and a variety of aromas...
We toured a traditional Moroccan home that was being remodeled. (There were thousands of colorful tiles!)
Our morning ended with a guided tour of Tangier's American Legation Museum.
Since signing the Treaty of Friendship in 1786, Moroccan and American relations have remained strong.

We wonder where Morocco's winding pathways will take us next?

THE SPECTACULAR SEA-SIDE TOWN OF ASILAH, MOROCCO
Winding streets, white-washed walls, large painted murals, lovely old doors, clear blue seas...
ASILAH IS A CITY WE WILL NEVER FORGET!
Lovely archways led us to the Atlantic Ocean!
The morning sun casts its shadows on white-washed walls.
Beautiful doors...
Freshly painted or with years of history

What if we were to "knock" at one of these doors?
Taking close-up photos of door knockers wasn't on our radar until visiting the beautiful city of Asilah.
(Now we have a good excuse to return to Spain and Morocco and take photos of ones we missed!)

What a wonderful day!
We even had time for shopping, lunch, and a very special souvenir... henna tattoos!
